Lane Merrifield

As executive vice president of Disney Online Studios, Lane Merrifield oversees Disney’s Virtual Worlds and Connected Games.  He is a co-founder of Club Penguin, the Internet’s largest virtual world for children, and joined Disney in 2007 with the Disney acquisition of Club Penguin. Merrifield is recognized as a pioneer in the field of virtual worlds, and has a personal passion for how connected play has the potential to bring kids from around the world together in a fun, creative and meaningful way.  He has provided the creative vision and business strategy for Club Penguin since its inception, and is now responsible for all aspects of Disney’s virtual worlds business, which includes Pixie Hollow, Toontown Online, and Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

His projects have won numerous awards including a Webby, BAFTA, and various Parent Choice Awards.  Disney Online Studios was recently named one of the top 20 Best Places To Work in Canada.
